Ross Smillie and Therese Thompson have lived in Lacombe, Alberta for over twenty years. Ross is a United Church minister who also teaches ecological ethics and theology through a local theological College, and is the author of two books. He enjoys sailing in the summer time and curling in the winter. Therese is an Occupational Therapist who specializes in mental health. Her hobbies include reading, crafts, gardening, and caring for their very spoiled cat. Together they have raised two children, now fully grown and successfully launched in their careers. Ross has always enjoyed visiting new places and encountering new cultures. As a child, his family spent two separate years in England, from where they traveled to France, Austria and Italy. As a young adult, he spent several months volunteering and exploring South America, sparking a life long interest in the efforts of ordinary people around the world to build peace and improve people's lives. Therese's interest in travel has been more recent, beginning with a trip she and Ross made to Guatemala with a church group in 1995. Once their children were grown, they discovered Rostad Tours, and organized their first tour to Egypt, Jordan and Israel in 2006, followed by tours to China, Crotia/Slovenia, and India. They have been impressed by the variety of experiences included in the tours they have hosted, and the careful selection of sites, hotels, restaurants and tour guides. They are excited about their upcoming tour to Exotic Indochina and looking forward to making new friends along the way.
