Jim and Louise currently reside just minutes outside Orillia, Ontario. They bring a wealth of experience to their love of ‘tour hosting’. While in his mid-twenties, Jim spent over two years travelling around the world. Some of the highlights of his travels include teaching at the Technical School of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and meeting such people as Otto Frank in Amsterdam (father of Anne Frank), Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, Ramhas Gandhi (son of Mahatma Gandhi) and some survivors of the atomic bomb disaster in Hiroshima. But more important than the places Jim visited and the things he saw – were the people he met, the students he taught, the rich and diverse cultures he experienced and the friendships he made. These experiences have led him to want to share the wonders of this world with others.
Louise acquired her RN at Wellesley Hospital in Toronto and her degree in nursing at the University of British Columbia. She worked as a Public Health nurse. Jim is a graduate of the universities of Ryerson (electronics), York (philosophy) and UBC (theology).
Now recently retired, after working in six rural and urban communities of Ontario, Louise and Jim are devoting their time to grandchildren, hiking, canoeing, camping, cross-country skiing, exploring the beauty of Canada and of course ‘Tour Hosting’. In the tours we host, cultural events, concerts and folk performances are as important as the amazing and beautiful sights we see.
For us, it is a joy to share these treasures of the world with you!
