Phyllis and Richard live in Ottawa where Richard is a lawyer with the Department of Justice of Canada and Phyllis is retired from her legal position. They have one son who lives in Detroit, Michigan, also a lawyer.
Phyllis and Richard love travelling. In 2014 Phyllis co-hosted a Rostad tour of Ireland and led a group from her church to Iona, Scotland. She and Richard travelled by car around the Inner and Outer Hebrides and found them spectacularly beautiful.
In 2012 they travelled to Africa with a group of Ottawa lawyers and worked on building a community school in a small village in Zambia. Following this they toured on safari through Botswana and travelled by train from north to south in South Africa. They both hope to return to South Africa some day, preferably not in the southern winter, which was much colder than they expected.
At home in Ottawa they are busy with training and caring for their active young dog –a Nova Scotia Duck Toller, gardening, playing baseball and volunteering. In the summers they spend time at their family cottage in New Brunswick. They are looking forward to the experience travelling with friends on our Viking River cruise in October 2016.
